LADY FORTUNA / FRU FORTUNA
Fortuna is the goddess of fortune, chance and prosperity. She appears in different forms, however in this representation, based on the statue overseeing Oslo city center and Jernbanetorget, she stands on a ball with a sail to represent capriciousness and how easily fortunes can change. After the Reformation and until the end of the 19th century, the goddess Fortuna replaced the (current) catholic saint St. Hallvard on the Oslo city Coat of Arms.
